As your local Northridge and Woodland Hills orthodontists and pediatric dentists, we are proud to offer a comprehensive range of both pediatric dental treatment and orthodontic care. Here at Blooming Smiles we offer Invisalign treatment to both teens and adults with certain orthodontic issues.
Invisalign is a very convenient and discreet way to improve a smile using transparent removable aligners that gradually and comfortably move teeth into the desired position that has been carefully planned out by your orthodontist. Here are a few important things to know about Invisalign before finding out if the treatment is right for you from your orthodontist.
In order for Invisalign to work effectively at moving teeth, it is of the utmost importance that the aligners be worn for 22 hours per day. Before you find out of you will be treated with Invisalign, you must be 100% sure you can be compliant with wearing your aligners at all times except when eating and brushing and flossing.
Similar to metal braces, Invisalign clear aligners require adjustments. However, the adjustments are just different trays that are given to you in stages to help move your teeth into the desired position. It is simple and easy to come into our Woodland Hills or Northridge offices every few weeks so we can monitor your progress.
Because there are no metal wires or brackets to break, you can enjoy all your favorite foods when you are wearing Invisalign because you simply remove the aligners before eating. Keep in mind that it is important that you brush your teeth before putting your aligners back in so that food debris does not get trapped under the aligners that can lead to tooth decay.
When your Invisalign treatment is complete, you will begin what is called the retention phase of your treatment. This is when you will wear a retainer that is designed to hold your teeth in their new positions.
If you are ready to find out if Invisalign is right for you or your teen, we encourage you to request an appointment today. Once we have provided you with a thorough exam, we will have a follow up discussion with you to tell you what treatment options you may be able to choose from, which may include Invisalign clear aligners. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
